Mac for Radio

Show Notes

People are migrating to other places to swap information

Google is now a verb

Just a dozen years ago music was on vinyl

Music, E-mail, Web

Podcasting and New Media is a whole new critter than the 60’s, and 70’s…

Today we’re being attacked… not by radio…

The issue of broadcasting in real time has been challenged

As a broadcaster are we really “Old Media”

Web-site cannot be a brochure anymore

The Internet is becoming invisible… radio stations need to come into this new era…

People want rich content… audio and video

Radio does know how to do quick turn-around audio/video… we can deliver in snack sized bites

How do we participate in “Talk Radio” without the radio?

Leading Edge radio stations are putting audio, video, etc on the web-site and talking about it with listeners

Perishable assets may be leaking to a new platform…

Commercial announcements can now be a preview for what we see and hear online

Is radio late to the new media party?

Learning how to move audience around… but the audience is still in place.

You Tube in length with good production values

Relevant commercials promoting online content

Engage the audience… “Check out our website!” Such a cliché..

It’s not OURS… It’s YOURS

Research from Yahoo and Wall Street say that as much as ½ of Podcast consumption is NOT portable.

In place audience and production facility and skillset

How do we create a sellable product?

The biggest asset that radio has is an audience and listeners…

Give them a snack on-air and invite them to visit the web-site or listen later…

Create rich content production…

The broadcast station that’s aware of it’s assets can help move the message around.

There’s no shortage of ideas…

New Ceritifed Digital Media Consultant

A dozen ideas for New Media Producers

A shortage of elves… we’re running out of hands…

We can’t even keep the transmitter on-air… you expect me to do a podcast too?

The official videographer of WXXX…

Trade dark time to videographers to become the official WXXX videographer

Monetizing digital media content

Get more serious about college credit internship programs…

Radio has systematically discouraged people from radio…

College kids have wandered off into new media…

Create a 4 credit intern program… student practicum and set of hands…

Is there talent coming into radio from podcastin? SexWithEmily.com

Questions about S-E-X… letting the tail wag the dog…

Listen around to see who is doing audio and video online with depth of content and production savvy…

How do we tel the story? How do we make the station the star?

I, I, I… Me, Me, Me… it’s not about YOU… it’s about the callers…

Talk Radio was the very first chat room.

Too many blowhards on the air that think I Talk You Listen.

Stations that are most engaging are the ones who listen and don’t talk..

Audience ought to be the staff of writers.

At least the on-air product has an in place audience….

Is the listener the new radio Program Director?

The best interviewer is the one who is the good listeners

The tools let us tell better than radio and TV ratings with actual live results…

Obsessing on the data is worth doing…

Creating relevant content? What are some steps to make that happen?

Read the book The Long Tail…

There are people who are passionate on something besides Hillary and O’Bama

Barrier to entry into the podsphere is non-existent

Canny Self Promoters will find out how to attract attention

Mass audience… real time consumption…

Do what you’re up to with a passion and make it available… and someone will find you…

Follow or lead? Create the content…

Do more than a brochure on the internet about your show…
